Pinterest: the online scrapbook.

Imagine being able to store all your ideas on a visual mind-map. Imagine an online scrapbook where you could store all your inspiration for lets say... when you next decorate your bedroom. Imagine being able to plan your wedding through pictures and having it all stored in one place.

Too good to be true? Nope. Let me introduce Pinterest.
Essentially, Pinterest is an online scrapbook where you can gather all your inspiration and put it onto one page.

Being a visual person, I enjoy collecting my thoughts and ideas through the use of imagery or reading. This is why Pinterest is perfect for me.

I have a created a number of boards which gather images, links to websites, ideas and so on about certain topics. For example, within the "style board" I have gathered pictures of what kind of fashion sense I want to have and blog posts that provide inspiration or guidance on style. I can add my own pins from different clothing websites as a sort of reminder that I want to buy them in the near future too! Which is awesome but extremely dangerous for my bank balance.

You can follow other "pinners" so that you can keep up to date and inspired by their "pins". These will appear in your feed. You can follow their whole profile, or even just one of their boards that you're interested in if you want. For example, I follow a lot of singular boards that revolve around "diy".

I will provide you with a fair warning that... it is quite addictive. Whilst I am on my phone/computer, 80% of the time, I am delving deeper into the realms of "Christmas recipes" or "Scandinavian decor for bedrooms".

On Pinterest, you can find so many DIY posts in relation to any aspect of your life... whether that be food, gardening, decor, textiles, painting or make-up! I've got a big list of things that I want to try and complete, including this "Leg Lap Desk"

Below is a list of my favourite Pinners that I think you should check out:

Joyce Merceij
Katies World of Beauty
Estee Lalonde
Kelly *

And of course, you can check out my boards here for some inspiration or even just to have a nosey at what Pinterest is all about!

Please let me know in the comments below whether you are a Pinner and if so, what are your favourite kind of boards that you follow?

Why start a blog?

The internet provides encouragement for a lot of individuals. With the sense of anonymity, you are able to be true to yourself and explore the different talents and interests that you have.

The internet is a forgiving place. If you have interests different than your friends, you can honestly and openly enjoy them. You can explore your options within a community who commend difference and individuality.

Whether you're a bookworm or a fashionista, you can create a space for you to learn, discuss and educate others about your interest. You can conceptualise ideas and share your passion with other people. You can become your own teacher and provide support to others in whatever field it is you love.

A blog can be...

- a space for self-exploration and self-actualisation.
- a world of connectivity with others
- a space of acceptance, encouragement and support
- a space where you are able to show your talents
- a space to record your achievements, abilities, thoughts, feelings, wishes, dreams...

The list goes on and on.

A blog is anything you want it to be.
A diary. A sketchbook. A cookbook. A clothing magazine. A forum of debate.

My blog is going to be...

A space for documentation. Whether that be, what I had for tea last night or a post about my favourite clothing pieces at the moment or even advice about certain aspects of everyday life.

I have a number of writing journals that store drawings, daily inputs, ideas for home decor, task organisation and so on... I'm happy with those. But I thought it was time to take my ideas and put them on a platform available for others to read. After all, the internet is such a fun place!

I hope it will be a space for inspiration. There are hundreds of blogs out there that I find inspiration from on a daily basis. I hope to do the same for even just one person out there.
